SUMMARY OF DUTIES
  • Handle a shared workload of all cases which have become defended with the sole ethos of working towards a settlement with the defendant;
  • To complete any Small Claims mediation with the Court Mediation Service;
  • To review all defences and obtain the necessary evidence required to rebut the same from the client;
  • To draft initial responses to the defences and provide without prejudice settlement offers;
  • To telephone cases where response to letters have not been received;
  • Action and conclude settled cases ;
  • Duty to identify, raise and report any breaches in order to adhere to SRA and FCA principles; and
  • Undertakes any other duties in line with the basic objectives of the post given to by management.
KNOWLEDGE
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK;
  • Have a degree in law or have completed a suitable conversion degree (GDL) preferable but not essential;
  • Sound knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules and Court Procedures;
  • Good written and drafting skills;
  • Experience of telephony work;
  • To have a working understanding of the SRA and FCA principles; and
  • Minimum of 6 months working experience in a litigation team.

  • Ability to identify and achieve solutions to problems and disputes;
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet conflicting deadlines;
  • Adherence to SRA and FCA rules;
  • The ability to organise large volumes of material, identify missing documents, prioritise tasks and effectively communicate with interested parties;
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills;
  • Demonstrates an awareness of the professional standards required when working within a regulated law firm and the importance of delivering a quality service to our clients;
