BW Legal Announce Their Inaugural Nominated Charity of the Year

We are delighted to announce that BW Legal has partnered with Simon on the Streets as our first charity of the year.

The charity of the year project will see BW Legal partner with a different organisation each year to support a cause effecting the local community.

In 2019 we will work closely with Yorkshire-based homeless charity, Simon on the Streets, to make a meaningful difference to those who are sleeping on the streets.

Rachael Withers, COO at BW Legal said: “I am very passionate about helping others and about BW Legal giving back to the local community of Leeds.”

“Our business is built on helping customers through their financial difficulties and I am eager for this support to grow in 2019 through our charity of the year project.”

“It is a key objective for the coming year to launch the first ever charity of the year for BW Legal. The business has grown to such a level that we felt we could make a positive difference to our community through a charity of the year project in the coming year.”

Since 1999 Simon on the Streets has been helping members of the homeless community turn their lives around.

As an independent charity, they solely rely on sponsorship, donations and fundraising. The work they do involves offering emotional and practical street-support to vulnerable individuals who are sleeping rough or at risk of sleeping rough.

Rachael added: “Homelessness has certainly been on the rise in recent times and we are thrilled that we will be able to support Simon on the Streets to help tackle this growing issue.”

“We are looking forward to working with them and I am proud that we as a business can support such a worthy cause.”

Making a Positive Impact

Zarvin Vandrewala was recently selected to be the Corporate Charity Ambassador at BW Legal. He will work closely with the charities to ensure that we provide more than just financial support and look at ways to raise awareness of the respective causes.

He said: “For as long as I can remember my time in the legal industry has been coupled with corporate social responsibility projects.”

“Early on in my career I was elected as the Charity and Education Representative for the Junior Lawyers Division and I continued this work in my previous roles through several fund raising initiatives.”

“To be named Corporate Charity Ambassador for BW Legal is a proud moment for me and I am especially excited to be working with Simon on the Streets. From the early visits to meet with Fahad and the team I could tell just how passionate they were about their work.”

“They came across differently to a lot of other charities in their sector as they focus on long term emotional and practical support for those individuals who are deeply entrenched in homelessness.”

He added: “We’re working to plan ahead for 2019 and plan to offer a lot more than just financial support, through fundraising, and truly feel that we will make a positive impact to their project in the coming year.”

Fahad Khan, Development Manager at Simon on the Streets said: “Simon on the Streets are absolutely delighted to have been selected as BW Legal’s charity of the year for 2019.”

“As a small charity that is independent of local authority and government funding, we rely heavily on the support of our partners and the public to help us to continue to do what we do. There are more and more people ending up sleeping on the streets and we offer long term emotional and practical support to some of the most vulnerable adults in our communities.”

“We are thankful to BW Legal for supporting rough sleepers and we look forward to working with them in 2019.”
